An Open Heart

For anyone who's ever felt behind, uncertain, or not feeling good enough. 

I made this piece during a season when life didn't look the way I thought it would. When I felt behind, uncertain, and I wasn't quite where I was supposed to be. But instead of closing off, I chose to stay open. To soften. To trust.

Having an open heart means choosing tenderness even when life has given you every reason to build walls. It's showing up vulnerably to your work, to your relationships, to yourself, even when you're scared. It's also about self-compassion. Staying open to yourself and not punishing yourself for where you're not yet, but holding space for where you are. Treating yourself with the same gentleness you'd offer someone you love.

An Open Heart is a handmade sculptural artwork with flowing forms that wind across the canvas like ropes gently twisted together, holding on without rigidity. Painted in soft pink with an iridescent satin gold finish, it shifts in the light, revealing new depth from every angle.

When I look at it, I feel comforted. Like a warm hug. Like permission to be exactly where I am.

It's a reminder that growth doesn't always look like achievement. Sometimes it looks like permission. Sometimes it looks like giving yourself space to see the world in color again, to trust that possibilities are still unfolding even when you can't see them yet.
