This piece is about that ongoing journey of staying true to yourself. You know how hard it is to be authentic when the world keeps pulling you in different directions? That's what this sculpture represents - all those daily choices we make to live a life that's really ours.
I built it with bold, strong lines mixed with gentle curves. The contrast is intentional - it's like how you need both strength and grace to navigate life while staying true to who you are. The bold parts represent the courage it takes to be yourself, and the softer curves show the gentleness you need with yourself along the way.
Living in alignment isn't always easy. There are defeats and setbacks, moments when you wonder if it's worth it to keep being authentic when it would be easier to just go along with everyone else.
But this piece is also about that peace you feel when you're living according to your values. That contentment that comes from knowing you're being true to yourself, even when the world around you feels chaotic.
I hope when you look at it, you remember that freedom that comes from staying true to who you are, no matter what's happening around you.
What it's made of: mixed media, drywall mud, plaster, acrylic wall paint, color shift pigment, intercoat, satin finish on a canvas.
