There’s a quiet pull inside you, calling you toward something more. But here’s the thing: you don’t find it. You create it.

I started working on this piece in October of last year. I was rebuilding myself after letting go of parts of me that weren’t serving me anymore. And during that process, something shifted. The curls you see in this sculpture are inspired by my own curls. It took me 15 years to love them. For most of my life, I saw them as something to fix, something that made me different in a way I didn’t want to be. But as I shaped each twist and curve, I realized I wasn’t just making art. I was honoring a part of myself I’d rejected for so long.

This piece became about that. About finally meeting yourself. About appreciating every layer of who you are, even the ones you used to hide. I wanted to create something that held opposites: something massive but delicate, hard but soft, shadow and light. Because that’s what it’s like when you really meet yourself. You realize you’re not just one thing. You’re complex. You’re layered. And all of it matters.

The soft blues and blush tones keep it grounded and dreamlike. The gold catches the light like a reminder that you’re here, you’re seen. The curls don’t force anything. They just flow, the way you do when you finally stop fighting yourself. When you create space for who you really are, you’re not just finding something. You’re building it. And in that process, you meet the version of yourself who’s been waiting all along.
