Look Inward

The third sculpture demanded honesty, I wasn’t sure I was ready to give. But August was asking for truth, and I had learned by then that looking away only prolongs the journey home.

This piece emerged in the green of deep forests, where shadows and light dance together and nothing can hide. Working with hands that had learned to trust, I sculpted forms that felt like chambers of the heart, some smooth and peaceful, while others were jagged, where old fears still lingered.

The sculpture became a map of my inner landscape, complete with the territories I’d avoided and the places I’d been afraid to visit. But in the making, I discovered something extraordinary: when you finally look inside with compassion instead of judgment, you find not the monster you feared, but the tender, brave part of yourself that never stopped believing in your return.

This green holds both shadow and light, both question and answer. It reminds us that the journey inward isn’t about finding perfection, but about finding home in the fullness of who we are.
