From the Ethereal Series: A Sculptural Artwork

Inspiration / Concept
Unlike many of my previous works that explore balance, this piece was sculpted with harmony in mind. The forms aren’t symmetrical or even—but they align. That alignment represents how things don’t have to be perfect to feel right. Inspired by the desire we all carry to be seen and acknowledged, this piece holds space for that quiet, deeply human need.

Symbolism & Meaning
The layered, folded forms resemble thick sheets of paper—soft yet dimensional, structured yet flowing. Sculpted in a shade lighter than the others in the series, the piece carries a more ethereal, almost weightless feeling. The visual softness is intentional, representing the tenderness and vulnerability that comes with allowing ourselves to be seen.

How I Made It
This piece began months ago with a different vision. I had sculpted the first form, but over time, it no longer resonated with me. Rather than abandoning it, I added it with a new layer—letting the past shape what came next. What emerged were entirely new forms, born from the foundation of something that no longer fit. Evolution is part of the process.

The Heart Behind It
While finishing this piece, I kept thinking about a moment from my day job. A man I often saw—quiet and withdrawn, suddenly opened up after I asked how he was doing. He’d lost weight and I noticed. It turned out he’d undergone surgery and started taking better care of himself. He told me how much it meant that someone saw that. That interaction stayed with me. It reminded me how deeply we all long to be acknowledged, to feel understood. We don’t always say it.. but we all carry a desire to be seen.
